Sixteen years on the same beat.
When I opened this site in March 2009, the plan was embarrassingly simple: publish one thoroughly captioned, properly sourced gallery of Hungarian women every day, and see if anyone noticed. The first issue was thirty-two frames of a film studio in Fót. The readers noticed. Sixteen years and six thousand one hundred and forty-six daily editions later, they are still noticing.
What we cover is a single question: who is shaping Hungarian public life this week, and how does she look when the room is empty? We do not chase scandal, we do not trade in rumours, and we have never published an unverified identification. Every profile is researched, captioned, and indexed by a named member of our editorial team. Every photograph carries a credit line and, where possible, a photographer of record.
What we don't do is just as important. We don't host paparazzi material, we don't speculate about private lives, and we don't treat our subjects as interchangeable. The archive holds 1,847 profiles and each one is different — that is the whole point.
If you are reading this from a returning tab, thank you. The site has been updated every single day for sixteen years and that streak is, quietly, the only metric we have ever cared about. If you are here for the first time — welcome. Pour a coffee. The gallery is just past the cover.
— E.K.
Sixteen years. One beat.
The metrics we measure — and the ones we deliberately don't.
