How the archive is organised

Twenty-two verticals, sixteen years, one living index.

Every photograph in this gallery is filed twice: once under the public figure it depicts, and once under a vertical — the discipline or field she represents. We call this proprietary system Magyar Muse, and it covers everything from handball and equestrian sport to opera, contemporary art and breakout film.

You can browse by vertical to follow an entire craft, or filter by year to watch a single talent's editorial arc unfold. New galleries are published every morning at 08:00 Budapest time; existing profiles are refreshed at least once a month with fresh editorial imagery from our contributor network across Debrecen, Pécs and Szeged.

A note from the newsroom, dated Tuesday, 14 January.

Dear reader,

This week you will find forty-one new images from the Paris fencing training camp where our Olympic medalist is preparing for the spring season; a 28-frame backstage set from Milan Fashion Week; and the first installment of our 2025 series on Hungarian women in contemporary art, which opens in a 200-square-metre studio in the Buda hills.

We have been doing this since March 2009 — sixteen years, never a day missed, never a single issue gated behind a paywall. Our editorial promise is simple: every photograph here has been commissioned by a member of our 24-person Budapest team or one of our 60 vetted contributors; every caption has been fact-checked against publicly available sources; every profile is reviewed at least once a month and refreshed with new imagery when something is added to the subject's public life.

Practical Questions

What readers, researchers and agents ask first.

Answers to the four questions we receive most often — from first-time browsers, from journalists on deadline, and from representatives of the women we cover.

How often is the gallery actually updated?

Every day. New galleries go live at 08:00 Budapest time, 365 days a year — including weekends and Hungarian public holidays. Existing profiles are refreshed with new editorial imagery at least once a month. In 2024 we added 2,400+ new editorial photographs to the index.

Where do the photographs come from?

Every image in the gallery is commissioned by Hungarian Babes Editorial Kft. or contributed by one of our 60 vetted freelance photographers across Debrecen, Pécs, Szeged and Budapest. We do not aggregate from paparazzi agencies, social media scraping, or wire services. If you would like to credit a specific photographer, the caption includes their full name.

Can a publicist or talent representative request a profile be added?

Yes. We add roughly twelve new verified public-figure profiles to the index each month. Please write to [email protected] with a short biography, recent press coverage and a contact email. We do not accept paid placement or sponsored profiles — editorial selection is made by our six-person Budapest editorial board alone.

Is the archive available in other languages?

Yes. We publish in four languages — English (the original), Hungarian, German and Polish — each maintained by a separate editorial desk. The English edition, which you are reading, is the longest-running and the most extensive, with 1,847 verified profiles currently indexed.
